Investors Business Daily

Tags

If you haven't noticed, I am a big fan of the Investor's Business Daily. It's one of the best stock market investing publications out there in my opinion. Even if you aren't a follower of the CANSLIM strategy, the IBD is still a great resource. I used to get the print edition and sometimes would have trouble getting the paper delivered on time. But a while back I switched to the eIBD and now have the paper by 8:30 or 9:00 pm Eastern Time every day now. To me the electronic edition is the way to go. First of all, you don't have all of these papers stacked up at your house and you can keep years of the paper on your hard drive. Either way you go, print or electronic, you get access to investors.com which is also a great tool primarily for the stock charts and my stock lists you can create.

Everyday, I read the paper and go through my daily routine, from the IBD Market Pulse to the Investor's Corner, there is so much valuable information that the paper collects in one spot on a daily basis, it's almost TOO much. That's a good thing though because you once you get a handle on it, you can really hone in on what you are looking for.

Personally, I'd make sure that on a daily basis you review the Big Picture column and the How's the Market page. These pages alone will tell you a great deal about the general market direction. I always suggest a beginning investor always start by using these features of the paper.

Once you start looking for great stocks to buy, you'll want to pay attention to the stock screens the paper provides. The Stocks on the Move screen and the Stocks in the News screen provide some great stocks to look at each day. Not to mention the IBD 200 and the IBD 100.

The other thing that the paper does is reinforce what William O'Neil's book How to Make Money in Stocks teaches so it's a great reinforcer.

While you can also get the weekend edition which contains the Weekly Review, I'd encourage you to get the paper every day. One thing you can do is call Investor's Business Daily and ask for the sales department. They will sometimes give new subscribers a special deal that you can't get otherwise.

If you are not a reader, start today.

Good Luck!
