Do You Know What Happened In The Stock Market Today

Tags

If you want to be a successful at stock market investing, the first thing you need to ask yourself is what happened in the stock market today. Now, I don't mean that you need to turn on Jim Cramer's Mad Money or whatever it's called. You need to learn how to decide -- on your own -- what happened in the stock markets. Today it's even more critical that you take control of your money. I have spoken at length about how no one tells you to sell to lock in gains or when is the best time to enter the market. Brokers only have so much time to invest in their clients and figuring out the best time for you to lock in your gains is probably going to put on the back burner. This is why the time honored BUY AND HOLD strategy was endorsed. This gets them off the hook of ever having to tell you to sell. But sell at the right time -- you must.

Is the stock market open today? If it's a weekend or federal holiday, the answer is going to be no. This leaves the remaining days, basically Monday through Friday to study the price and volume action of the market on the day before. The results of the stock market today and every day are readily available in numerous places on the internet. Personally, I prefer the Investor's Business Daily at Investors.com to get this information.

The main thing you want to know each and every day is this: Is the general market direction going up or down? You want to only invest your money when the market is going up. Most stocks tend to go with the general market direction. If you invest in the market when it is going down, you'll be swimming upstream. Why not go with the flow and invest in the market when their is a greater chance it won't be pulled down by the overall market.

Check the stock market for today daily before you invest any money and let the market tell you what to do and not the talking heads of the media.
